"I don't know." I said, "It won't make any difference. This dragon is different somehow!"That is when I realized the task at hand. We had to abandon the fort and leave it to perish. There was no way we could possibly stop the beast. 'Retreat!" The warriors all turned around and ran with me. All except Derek. 'Come on Derek!' He wouldn’t budge. Slowly he drew an arrow and positioned it to his bow. He pulled the string back as far as he could. The dragon roared in fury as it spewed flames burning the wood around us. He took aim. The dragon caught sight of Derek and came charging at him, a matter of seconds between death.--- Derek released the arrow. Everything was silent as the arrow flew towards the dragon.

Xavon called out to Lock. 'Lock! We've been traveling west for too long. The woods are to deep to continue. We should go back.' Lock didn't agree. ' Don't worry. I sense the dragon this way.' 'Whatever you say' Xavon and Lock had left the fort as soon as Me and the guys had left for the dragon. They heard the cries and thought they came from the forest and followed it deep through the Serta Forest.

Xavon jumped around the roots of the trees while Lock was tripping over them. Xavon had great agility, but Lock did not. Because he is only about two and a half feet tall he cannot jump very well and scurries along wherever we travel. While Lock was scurrying blindly deeper into the woods, Xavon kept a close--- look out for beasts in the area. Xavon stopped. "Lock!" he cried. "Did you hear that?" Lock looked over his shoulder and tipped over a root. "No." said Lock, his mouth full of leaves. Xavon, being trained by the Master Cove, had powers no other swordsman had. He grew to a stop and eyed the surrounding forest. A scurrying came from some bushes on the side of a tree. Xavon quickly looked to the spot. Then, suddenly, a griffin popped out of the bushes. It lunged for Xavon but he dodged the attack. Now, a griffin is a beast that is not to hard to handle. Especially for the Qaud Squad. But for some strange reason all of the monsters they had fought became more powerful. Almost immortal. Xavon circled around the griffin. He striked at it with his sword. The sword cut through the griffin. It lie on the ground lifeless. Xavon turned to Lock. "help me Xavon!" cried Lock. "my foot is stuck in this blasted root!"---

Xavon laughed to himself as he walked over. He bent over o where the elf was and started prying his tiny foot loose. As he pulled Lock looked beyond him. Lock gasped. "X-Xav-Xavo..."

stuttered Lock. "What is it Lock!" screamed Xavon. "The griffin! It's back!" Xavon turned.

it was too late. The griffin was upon Xavon and tearing away at his armor. Lock watched in horror as Xavon was torn up. With a screech Lock screamed out, "Fire!" A ball of fire came from Lock's hands as he said these words. The fireball hit the griffin and sent it flying back. There it lay dead. "Xavon! Xavon! Are you okay?" Xavon opened his eyes, "I think so.." With that he fell into a deep sleep.

When Xavon awoke he was standing in a dark room. Torches were lit all around him. he examined his surroundings. He was--- in some kind of a dungeon. Leading out of the dungeon, Xavon saw a long tunnel. At the end of the tunnel there was a bright light.
