Twisted by Rebecca Pippin
Page 4 of 4 Even in death she has no peace."
"Let's just try and get some sleep." Greg lifted Tiffany from the chair and
carried her to their room. "In the morning all of this will be like a bad
dream."
"A dream where my best friend dies for no good reason at all." Tiffany
retorted.
"Ah well, Gail was a special woman, a special friend. Think about that as
you fall asleep." Greg kissed her goodnight and bean to snooze soon after.
Tiffany crept from the room at two in the morning, tired but unable to
sleep, sad but wanting to be happy. She picked up the cell phone to call her
sister but accidently dialed Gail's number. she was about to press END when
somebody picked up on the other end.
"Hello?"
It was Gail. Sweat starte to coat Tiffany's hands at the sound of her voice.
"Hi. I... I think I have the wrong number. Sorry for calling so early in the
morning." Again, her thumb brushed the END button, then ceased.
"Tiffany? Why did you hang up on me earlier? I had something imortant to
tell you." Her voice dimmed a little then continued, "I know who's killed
everybody."
Tiffany's throat went dry, "Who Gail?" She induldged the caller. Everybody
knew who killed all those women. They'd known for the last two years.
Right after Gail's death.
Gail spoke even softer this time, so quietly she couldn't hear her.
"Couldn't sleep love?" Greg whispered in her free ear at the same time, his
arms circling Tiffany's waist.
"Who was it?" Tiffany asked again, angry at Greg's interruption.
Greg quieted as if he too waited for the answer, his warm breath spilling
over Tiffany's neck.
"Who was it?" She asked again, scared for some reason.
"It was Greg."
