Deep Dark Despair
         by Erwin Quah

Alone
in the dark I sit
with a loaded gun pointed to my head
contemplating whether to pull the trigger
to finally end my misery.

Looking back through my life
there were too many disappointments
so many shattered dreams
I just can't take anymore.

And in this world where you're judged
by your looks, your wealth and your intelligence
what hope is there for a "Nobody" like me?
I could never ever live up to these expectations.

Since I am "Nothing"
I see Death as my only solution
Besides, what difference would it make
whether I live or die
In the end...we'll all end up
as food for the worms.
