Soul Solution (3 ratings) by Carl Rafala
Page 10 of 10 So will I be reborn? Renewed? Will I know of my life, my whole existence?
Will I know who I truly am? Will I know....
The questions raced at her as the freezing death crept by, a specter that
would soon work through every membrane, every cell, stopping blood, freezing
thought.
She pulled at the second latch. Her emergency siren began to scream.
And will I be me? All of me? Life, heart, soul, living again?
She felt a strange calmness unknown to her before, working through her
body.
Life is defined by what it does. Isn’t it?
She undid the last latch, and without thinking any further she pulled off
her helmet, let it fall to the ground, and with arms outstretched she felt what
no one had ever felt before: ethane rain on her face. As the haze of Titan fell
away, the deadly freezing cold gave way to a new and pleasant numbness.
It is done.
And in those few seconds before the pressures ripped at her flesh, before
the blood filled her ears, rushed from her exploding capillaries to crystallize
on her skin, before unconsciousness overtook her, she knew, in those last
moments, that she would remember it all.
