This story starts about the time when I was sixteen. This was also when I was in my other world, Nakara it was called. I was in the nation of Tearias the third most powerful nation in the world. But for all my life, I had not left the capital city by the same name. I had been a hired sword for sometime now. And I was one of the best around.

I had learned to trust no one but my self, I had learned to lie, I had learned to kill without remorse. One of my many jobs, kill Queen Katrina of Palastopega. She was a young queen of my age, sixteen years old. Members of the Living Shadows killed her parents, but the assassins who did the job were taken out as well. I would not be taken out; I would kill her from inside her coach, take her heart, and get out without anyone noticing.

She was in town for diplomatic reasons today. I leapt from rooftop to rooftop until I spotted the carriage. It was about five stories down and ninety feet across from where I was.

Eight guards surrounded the carriage. There were all sorts of people cheering when she came into the city. I could kill her right now with a carefully aimed arrow through the curtains, but I wasn’t going to risk the miss. Besides, my superiors wanted her heart in a nice wooden box they gave me. I took out an arrow infused with an explosive spell put in to it. I aimed at the guards at the other side of the carriage. And I loosed it. As soon as it left my bow it turned invisible. A second later two guards were engulfed with a ball of fire. I jumped off the roof and landed in a hay wagon. While the people ran away and the guards went to the other side of the carriage to see if any on was hurt, I ran to it. On the way I focused my energy in to my weapon. The weapon was sheathed in a black flame of negative energy that protected me from offensive spells. When my focus was complete I opened the door of the cabin and jumped in.

In side was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She long black hair and hazel eyes. Her appearance screamed royalty. I quickly cupped her mouth so she wouldn’t scream. Her beautiful eyes got wide as she feebly tried to struggle. But I had her in a perfect hold.

I took out a dagger and held it to her. "Don’t struggle, it won’t hurt as much." I said. Then I told myself that I was just wasting time.

Then we heard, "Milady? You alright?"

I lightly cut her chest and drew a little blood. "Say, ‘yes’ and I’ll let you live." I commanded her in a whisper. I took my hand off her mouth.

"Yes." She said in her heavenly voice. But it was distorted with fear and confusion. I put my hand back on her mouth and stayed still until we started moving again.

"I’m sorry I have to do this," I said, "but it’s my job." I took the dagger and plunged into her chest. Her eyes got wide and her back arched for a few seconds. Then she died with out a sound. I sat in the carriage for a few more seconds, sipping her fine wine and eating some of her delicious food.

I looked at her dead body and said quietly, "You know what Milady? You are very beautiful. Too bad it had to end this way. If I wouldn’t have killed you, I would have loved you. Too bad though, all good things must come to an end." I leaned over and pressed my lips to hers for a quick second.
