while the weary world lies asleep
two shadows through the castle creep,
passing arch and ruined door,
where once, alive, they'd passed before.

From dungeons drear and bower cold
Shadows slip as they slipped of old
Dark arms entwined they gently glide,
A shadow grooom and shadow bride...
