KIAJIN BEGINNING: The Quest Holders (Book Excerpt) by Kirin 'Gemini' Richter
Page 4 of 4 Heh, see ya later! The ruby sphere erupted in a huge, rippling blast
of light.
Meanwhile, down on the ground, Andrea and Ethina were in an all out brawl
with the Lieutenant. Attacking from the left, Andrea slashed in long,
blue-trailing arches that froze the falling droplets. Stabbing with speed
unmatched, Ethina struck with solid bursts from her slender foil. They
were sending Valtor back, but he was only playing with them. He blocked
all their attacks with the gauntlets on his forearms.
HA! HA! It's futile to go on! You cannot defeat me!
roared Valtor, haughty and full of pride.
Andrea carelessly lifted her sword over her head, both hands on the hilt,
and exposed her mid section to an attack. Valtor took no time going from
defensive to offensive. A sharp twist of his body, he grabbed
Ethina's wrist, heaving her into the clouds. Folding and wrinkling in the
wind, her suit bunched together. Her wings warped and folded, unable to
right her out-of-control spinning.
Valtor used the drive of the throw to fling a deadly sidekick into Andrea's
unprotected left side. It threw Andrea like a cotton filled dummy.
Paralyzed by the initial shock, she tore through the rain, her limbs
dangling behind her. Her emerald locks of hair whipped her in the face.
Instantly, Zaiga rushed up and threw his leg into a sharp arch, slicing the
air with its speed. Moving like the wind, he dropped his foot and caught
Andrea in the back of the neck. Her neck bent abnormally from the wicked
blow, forcing her arms and legs above her head. Seconds before she hit
the floor, Zaiga leapt and dealt the girl a rough soccer kick that bolted her
into the air.
At that point, Asher, Ethina, and Andrea were all tumbling through the empty
darkness of the night.
Alright, FINISH THEM! rang Sabre's voice to his other destructive.
