Demon Hunter 5 (2 ratings) by Guy Rider
Page 10 of 19 "Oh... okay."
"We'll wait until we hear some yelling or something. Don't make it quiet; be
as loud as possible."
Both Bob and Jeff Broke, giving Dillon the thumbs up.
"One serving of death and destruction-comin' right up!"
Dillon sighed. "This should be good. Let's hope it works."
Moments later, Jeff and Bob were ready to make their entrance. Bob had a
kama in each hand while Jeff stayed true to his bat.
"Shall we?" asked Bob, sliding the blades of the kamas together.
"We shall."
The demons on the wall suddenly fell. All ten archers fell in a line,
dropping from left to right. Two dark figures stood still as statues at the
top, the setting sun making them nothing but dangerous-looking silhouettes.
"Chaaaaaaaaaarge!" a demon roared from somewhere in the courtyard.
Obediently, lines of demons filed onto the wall top. Most were felled before
they reached top; either a hole in their chest or a silver-tipped arrow
sticking out of their bodies. The ones that reached the Hunters weren't much
luckier.
As the stream thickened, help arrived from behind. Three more Hunters plowed
in from behind creating more commotion. One swung a weighted chain that took
most of the demons' heads off, one shot small green garlic gas bombs out of
long tube, and the third wielded a samurai sword expertly.
Bob and Jeff flipped down from the wall and landed in the midst of the
fight. Bodies flew in all directions, and soon there were no more demons
left.
The five Hunters stood in the middle of the carnage, searching for any
survivors. There were none.
A cut streaked down diagonally Bob's face, and there was a ripping of the
cloth covering the metal plates on Dillon's vest, but besides that, there
seemed to be no other injuries.
"Everyone ok-" A purple streak rocketed down from nowhere and tackled Dillon
before he could finish. His sword fell out of his hand midway through the air.
They slammed into the far wall, causing a deep dent that sent spidery cracks
out from the sides.
The purple thing recovered immediately and started attacking. Kicks got him
nowhere (no one could ever hit Dillon with a kick; it was his specialty), but
his punches were ferocious enough to prevent Dillon from getting away from the
wall. The vicioussness of the attacks soon rendered Dillon unconscious.
It ducked as a thundering punch shot over head, narrowly missing both the
demon and Dillon's head. Bob's fist slammed through the wall and immediately
retracted. He was not quick enough, however, to dodge or block the demon's next
move.
The purple demon slammed viciously into Bob's midsection, the spike
protruding from it's elbow making a dent in the armor.
Bob sailed staight back into Jeff's waiting arms, cushoning his fall.
It was Jeff's turn to try out, and he opened up with an uppercut to the
monster's midsection. It was stopped, and Jeff barely had time to lean back as
a whistling punch flashed by his face.
A horrible realization crossed Jeff's mind: this demon was as fast as
him!
Jeff was able to catch the demon off guard in the midsection, and caught the
next flailing, unaimed punch the thing sent his way. He pulled it towards him,
and slammed it back with a well-aimed sidekick to the midsection. It plowed
through the wall, collapsing a large portion along with it.
Through the dust, the Hunters watched as it ripped through the rubble it was
buried under. It exploded up, and landed heavily on the balls of its feet.
Its black eyes turned to yellow as it pointed at the Hunters.
Another realization suddenly crossed everyone's mind-this demon could also
Break!
Its purple skin was suddenly a darker shade with the sun at its back, and
its powerful arms flexed and relaxed with growing rage. Its thick, long,
powerful legs supported him with unshakable balance.
"My name is Shinn. You have made a fatal mistake challenging me. You will
all die very, very soon. Next time you see me, I will have partners, too, and
we will slaughter you! You will never leave the Underworld!"
Something long and shiny whistled through the air and landed between the
demon's legs. Jeff immediately recognized the sword.
"Richard!" Richard leaned on the rest of the cane. He stood on the wall,
snickering at the purple demon.
"Go home, Shinn!"
"Old man," Shinn hollered, "You will never leave, either!" With that, Shinn
spun and flew away.
Dillon groaned and fell to his knees. Bob caught him before he could fall
any further, picking him up and laying him across both arms. "Can you help
him?"
Rich cocked his head and answered, "Bring him to my place." Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Guy Rider, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
