112 miliseconds' now, and he had already succeded in constructing a collosal set of stairs, leading high above the toxic fumes.
10336821 noticed that he just always, built. it was as if he did'nt knew what to do with the stairs when he would complete them.
if he ever did so.

up, and up, the mechanical elevator took him into the metalic figure of the building.
he stopped. he had come to his post, this, if anything, was home.
he began working almost instantly, assembling a multitude of devices.
he labored hard, until his bodily alarm system had notified him that his cooling systems were starting to malfunction.
every day he had labored so, until he could barely walk to his refuelment cell.
10336821 was devoted to the greater cause, and he had no idea why.
but this day was different, he knew. he summoned by one of the overseers themselves. the great overseers! they alone knew about the greater cause, they were it's enforcers, those who oversaw it's dued acheivment.
finally, the Neoman was almost eager. almost rejoiced.
almost.

the time came. 10336821 had walked away from his post, taking several turns and passing through numerous rooms with other Neomen working on various projects of their own.
they, too, he noticed, for the first time, as he had never left his post, were working hard. they too were devoted to the greater cause. a feeling of almost-proudness filled the whole being of the Neoman.
he increased his pace, arriving at a specific post, manned by a Neowoman.
"clearence" she stated, blankly.
"fifth degree. Overseer 12. 2031 floor" he recited that which he was told to say.
the Neowoman just nodded, pointing with her hand towards a barred door, that was now opened.
another elevator, up, up he went...

the door opened. 10336821 opened, his eyes examining closly the room he had entered. the room was something of a vast laboratory, there was a chamber filled with Neoman of the newest production line, and a single figure, standing distinguished amongst them.
it was distinguished in a way that it wore a red garb upon it. no Neoman was ever allowed to cover himself with garments.
10336821 had stepped forward, bowing as he was told to do, and rising up to try and examine the figure that was not long ago as a myth for him.
it was a Neoman, and it looked exactly like 10336821, as all other Neoman looked like. but surely, 10336821 knew that it was not so.
this was not any Neoman, this was an overseer!
it spoke, and while 10336821 expected to hear something utterly different, what he heard was the same 'standard-male-class D-voice' that all the Neomen had. a voice that was like his own:
"I am 12. I have heard much of your hard work at acheiving the ultimate goal. we, the overseers, are much pleased by such. every Neoman like you brings us closer and closer to achieving the greater goal. come with me, let me show what fruits has your labor bore!"
said the overseer, in a strange tone of forced enthusiasm.
he led 10336821 to a window at the end of the room. the glass window was quite large, and it revealed all that was beyond it.

10336821 had never seen anything like it. it was a construct so collosal, so grotesque in its monstrous size and implemants and parts, that it stunned the Neoman.
so, this was the greater goal, he thought.
but, something was not right...
"we have followed the original design of the flesh ones" said the overseer, again in his enthusiastic tone "soon now, very soon, we will finish what they have started. this will be the greatest achievment of all inhabitants of this planet.
