The Room (3 ratings) by Zodiac Scott
Page 2 of 2 I placed my ear against the smooth surface of the door, trying to hear
something, anything that might help me to understand, to discover what was
behind that door. There was nothing. The door was too thick for any noise to
come through. No sound that could help me refresh my memory of something;
nothing to aid me in preparing for the opening of this door. I had nothing left
to do. I put my hand on the doorknob; feeling the coolness of the gray metal.
And slowly, thinking of what monsters could be behind the door, I turned the
handle, letting my wrist do all the work, my fingers only barely gripping the
horrible thing. The door opened. A bright light glared in my face. I looked
out,
was pleased by what I saw, although I couldn’t say why. I stepped outside.
