Arleana's Bow (Part 4) (1 rating) by Maia Sicard
Page 5 of 5 "Is he alright?" Christof cried from behind a tree where he and Remee were
seeking protection from the wild wood’s rampage.
Arleana dragged him with all her strength, "He’s out cold. The branch
knocked him over the head."
Chase groaned but did not open his eyes. Christof looked over the side of
his face that had been hit. A large bruise had formed covering most of the side
of his face and his eye.
"What if he has a concussion?" Remee exclaimed.
"Then we must wake him before it is too late," Christof said and slapped the
other side of Chase’s face.
"Wake up, Chase," Arleana plead, her eyes filling with tears, "Please wake
up."
Carmine crawled down from her arm and onto his chest. The little dragon
seemed to understand and her little eyes were filled with noticeable grief.
Carmine began to cry like none of them had ever heard her. Her little voice was
dreadfully sad as the dragon let slip a single tear.
Chase suddenly froze. One eye opened and then another. He groaned loudly and
tried to sit up.
"No, just relax," Arleana said and put her hand on his chest.
Chase relaxed and stared up at them, "My head….. hurts."
"Yes, it should," Christof said and smiled.
"You saved us, Chase," Arleana’s voice was breaking.
Chase closed his eyes then opened them again and they were filled with
tears. "I was afraid."
