I thank the Goddess that you are alive." She gently squeezed Angel's hand then hurried away.

Angel looked around. There were flowers, balloons and get well cards everywhere. The dark red, almost black roses next to her bed caught her attention. She sat up slowly cause her leg still throbbed but it wasn't in a cast. She pulled the card out.

" WELCOME TO THE CLUB!" was all it said in bold type.

Just then the doctor and her grandmother came in. They both looked shocked to see her sitting up.

" Well you seem to be doing much better now. We thought we were going to lose you there a few times, but obviously you pulled through. It is nothing short of a miracle."

" Why do you say that? And why isn't my leg in a cast? I heard the bone crack. Felt it even."

" There was too much torn flesh to put a cast on your leg. You were torn up very badly and had severe blood loss, but somehow in a week's time you have managed to almost completely heal.

" Whatever attacked you has somehow also changed you."

" What do you mean?" She looked at her grandmother. She was sitting quietly in a chair. The doctor handed her the medical file.

She took a deep breath then opened it. There were lots of reports describing her injuries then came the pictures.

Angel's breath caught in her throat. She wasn't even sure it was herself she was looking at. The woman in the pictures was slashed, torn, bloody and bruised. A day later there was less bruising and all the slashes and cuts were already scabbed over as if a week had passed.

By the forth day all the swelling and bruises were gone and the slashes and cuts were almost healed over or stitched up.

She closed the folder and slowly looked up at the doctor.

" How long have I been out?"

" One week. Seven days exactly." Angel just shook her head.

" I know this will sound crazy and I don't believe I am about to say this, but you show all the signs of becoming a werewolf." Angel suddenly began to laugh, but there was no humor in it. She laughed until she cried.

The doctor left Angel and her grandmother alone.

" This can't be happening Granny. I've got a year and half of school left. I can't become some monster."

" Hush child. It is horrific what has happened to you but it is for a reason." She stated plainly.

" What?" Angel almost yelled at her grandmother.

" I raised you to believe that all things happen for a reason, good or BAD."

" Not something like this, losing a limb or going bald or getting Cancer even. But becoming a monster. No way! To hell with that!" Angel grabbed the dark red roses and threw them across the room then began to cry again.

A nurse hurried in. When she saw the broken vase and Angel in tears she knew that Angel had been told. She went and cleaned up the flowers and broken vase then left quietly.

Angel fell back asleep and her grandmother and doctor talked at length about Angel's condition. At the doctor's urging Hanna went home and rested.

Angel woke in the middle of the night, realizing she wasn't alone and somehow knowing it wasn't one of the nurses or doctors.

She scanned the room and saw a man sitting in the far corner. He seemed at home there and for some reason Angel wasn't afraid of him.

" Who are you?" She asked quietly as she lay there.

" The better question is what am I, but we'll discuss that later.
