Forged of Flesh (4 ratings) by A. S. Teller
Page 17 of 17 "I understand why you wished for this Kyra," Elric's voice reached her ears as
if he stood at the bottom of a deep well or was it she who stood there? "But
Kyra, you can not find the solace you desire by running from the pain in your
heart. What befell Jarret was not of your doing, he knew well that his love for
you could bring him danger. However so great were his feelings he would rather
face that danger then live out his days without you. I know you believe you
choose this path as a way to atone for what you did under Dorn's compulsion,
but I know that this was not the only reason. The blessing of the Eternal Two
be with you always."
"Kyra, where you go now I hope you will find what you desire so much. But
remember always that there are two in this world who will always love you and
think of you," Shaylene said in her soft sweet voice. "And know also that we
will pray to Tallic and Talleen for you and ask that they grant you the peace
you long for."
Shaylene's voice trailing away Elric lifted the wand and directed it's light
towards her. As the blue glow touched her, Kyra felt a warmth spread out from
her chest to fill her body. She felt herself lightening, not just a physical
lightening, but a spiritual one as well. Kyra could still feel the crushing
pain of grief, that great void inside once filled by Jarret's loving presence,
but it no longer seemed to suffocate her heart. As Elric and Shaylene began to
fade from her sight, Kyra felt a tear slip slowly down her cheek, the first
tear she had shed since Jarret's death. And as the enchanted sleep began to
settle over her, Kyra knew in her heart that her healing had begun. Though it
would be years in coming, Kyra knew one day she would at last forgive herself
for living after he had died.
