Friend
         by Tricia

I'm sorry you feel this way
That you think you have noone whom cares
But just look around you
And see everyone who is there

If I could cry for you
I would do so
To save you hurt and pain

I would wipe away your tears
Cuddle away your fears
And hold you near
Until the pain inside subsides

If I was given reins
So I could control your life
Give them a little tug
To make you do things
You wouldn't ordinarily do
I would return them reins unto you
As that is something I would never do

If you had no courage
I would be by your side
Walk with you through the hardships
And be your eternal guide

I would smile at you when I was proud
Scowl when I was not
Laugh and tease you
Just to please you
To bring back that radiant smile
That should be in place,
Firmly, upon your sweet face

If you were sad
And needed to talk
I would sit beside you
As silent as can be
As you spilled out your feelings to me

I would offer you advice
Console you if I could
Hug you if you needed one
Just to make you feel good

I would wipe away your doubts
With a few gentle words
Then tell you instantly
Of your true worth

Even though we argue
Like most friends do
Everything I say here
Is all so very true

I will be here for you
Through thick and thin
Good and bad
To hold your hand
And to help you through
As you are my good friend
As I am yours

A shoulder to lean on
A friend for life . . .
