Winter
         by Tricia

Treading softly thru the once evergreen glade
I remember the tale of old
That I was told since I was a babe

My multicoloured mindset
Reminiscing of the lost purple flower
Encumbered underneath its snowy grave

Until the strong rays of the winter sun
Brought on only by daybreak
Penetrates thru this icy glade
And lets us know spring is on its way . . .

The beauty of the winter
And of the hazed reflections in the pond
Makes me wish I had a camera
To capture this beauty and inprint it forever
In a coloured photograph
Which I can look upon whenever . . .

My icy breath
Swirls in the wind
Looking like a cloudy fog in the air
Until it disperses until nothing is there . . .

Sitting on the porch way
And looking at the sprakling whiteness covering the land
Shivering slightly I pull my jacket tighter around myself
Breathing in the warmth and looking at my icy breath

I feel a nuzzle at my arm
I reach out and pull my good boy closer to my side
Trying to keep him warm with my body heat
Patting his head lightly
While he rests his head upon my knee

Together we watch the white and sprakling flakes
Drifiting from the thick grey tinged clouds above
Settling all around us

Sticking to my eyelashes
And settling in his fur
The snow flakes continue to fall
Making us shiver some more . . .
