Puppydog (4 ratings) by Randy Veach
While walking my little puppy dog,
through the park one day.
Upon a man I did come,
who had quite a lot to say.
The President is in trouble,
the Pope is in dismay.
I'll try and fix things up,
and then I'll go and play.
Ah this man was very wise,
and a lot he seemed to tell.
From discussing the Queen of England,
to assembling the Liberty Bell.
The minutes changed to hours
and the time it seemed to fly.
As the Man told many stories
that made us laugh and cry.
I listened and I watched
and the man I thought was swell.
Got confused, jumped up and down
and then he started to yell.
At first his yelling made no sense
and he wasn't very loud.
But meaner and louder he did get
and soon he drew a crowd.
The people watched and were soon amazed,
that this man was running free.
Call the cops and lock him up,
and throw away the key.
Soon the police, they did arrive
and the crowd got very mean.
Protect the man, I did cry
even though he's not so clean.
The Man was pulled, from the crowd
by an Officer whose name was Bob.
"Into the car you must go
you drunken dirty old slob."
As he sat there, in the car
he wished that he were dead.
With tears in his eyes and his clothes all torn
this is what he said.
"I'm sorry for what I've said and done
and I know I shouldn't lie.
But please don't take me, to the place
where dreamers are doomed to die."
As the police drove down the street
in a car painted white and blue.
I knew the place the man talked of
the place they called Belleview.
The puppy dog and I did part
from the park that day.
A lot we learned and fun we had
but someone had to pay.
So pay attention to what you've read
and remember it quite well.
Dreams and lies are lots of fun
but the payment may be hell.
