The Shadow by Violeta

Time was flying faster than a running cheetah.
"I can do it! I can make it to class!"
"No you cant! Not in one minute!"
That's Fast Tom, he's called Fast Tom because he is the greatest and fastest
runner the in the world. In just a few seconds he passed me. I knew he would
have made it, he might have already been there, not me. I am the short, chubby,
helmet hair boy that has freckles in his face that all the bullies take the
lunch money away from. When I got to the school, no one was there; I knew I was
late. I walked inside the school, fearing the Hall monitor. The hall monitor is
an average on tallness but when talking about the size of his belly, he is big.
I walked carefully, tip toeing to class. I felt like I was in Mission
Impossible 1 and I was Tom Cruise trying not to make any noise the my
enemies wouldn't hear me. Suddenly, I heard a glass shatter on the floor and a
lot of red juice spill out onto the hallway. I was startled by the sudden noise
in an empty, quiet hallway. I heard someone running; it sounded like someone
very heavy. My first guess was the hall monitor coming to see what has
happened, and when he saw me, he would give ma a tardy pass to get to class.
The hall monitor gives tardy passes to every one he hates; he hates me the
most, I'd even think that he would give ma referral. I waited for some time,
but no one came. I was standing there trying to figure out why no one had come
when suddenly the bell rang, it awoke me from my thinking. I ran to my class as
fast as I could trying to find an excuse in my worried mind. Once I got to my
class my teacher, Mr. Rodney looked like he was waiting for me to come.
"And may I ask, why were you not here in class?" It was the first time I had
not been in class. I am the good student or 'The Teachers Pet'. I always get
good grades and never do bad things. So Mr. Rodney was surprised when he saw me
come in to his classroom.
"I—My--UM—Oh! I got late to class because I tripped and fell in a creek, I
had trouble getting out and no one helped me when they were passing by." I
don't know where that came from but I thought that was a good excuse, of
course, Mr. Rodney didn't.
"Can I remind you that all the creeks are supposed to be filled with water
because it rained yesterday and—"
"Well it must have been very dry and when it rained it must have sucked all
the water down into the d—"
"And may I also remind you that there are no creeks close to this school or
close to were you live." He looked at me with a little smile on his face
because he had caught me in a big, fat, lie.
"OK, I woke up late and my parents were gone, I started running and
then…the"
"What's wrong?" the teacher asked me with a serious face.
"What? Oh, nothing." I was surprised that I hadn't noticed it.
"Your face is pale, did you see something bad?"
"What? No!"
"OK you can go to your other class. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Violeta, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
