In his mind, he sees three men in black suits. They are from the NSA (National Security Agency). The head of field operations of the NSA, Mr. Lewis, is there. He says to his operatives, "We will have to notify the President and the Secretary of State about this. We have a living Moses in our time. Think of what he can do for us. His potential is mind boggling. He will come with us to Washington, DC. And if he won’t, we will have to eliminate him. He is a threat to our security."

The two operatives shake their heads in agreement.

John blinks hard. He looks at Carrie and says, "I will talk to you later. I’m okay."

The test is over.

Later that night when everyone is asleep, John clutches his suitcase as he walks quietly down the back stairs to the basement. It’s dark inside. He turns on his flashlight. He hurries outside and heads for his car. When he reaches it, he sees Carrie alongside it with her suitcase.

"What are you doing here?" he asks.

"I’m going with you. I read your mind at the test. I saw the men from the NSA. They would use me to find you. Besides, I would be lost without you."

"So would I." He gives her a big hug and a long kiss.

They get into the car and hurry through the darken streets.

As they are driving, John asks, "Inside the glove compartment are a paper, a pen, and an envelope. Would you write down what I dictate to you, please?"

"Sure I will," says Carrie. "Give me a second to get ready."

She prepares herself for his dictation. She nods for him to proceed.

John speaks slowly and clearly. He says, "Hi Mary, Mr. Maxwell, and Mr. Lewis. Don’t bother sending your goons from the NSA to find Carrie and me. I know every move you will make. I don’t want to hurt anyone, but I will not allow you to take us back. I’ll prove to you that I have the gift. Mr. Lewis as you are reading this letter, Mary is standing to your right. You are wearing a gray suit with a black vest and tie. Your sun glass is in the left coat pocket, and your cell phone is in the right pocket. Mr. Maxwell has just arrived as you are finishing this letter. One more surprise for you, Mr. Lewis, this letter will now burn in your hands. Get the picture, bud. Sincerely, John and Carrie.

Carrie puts the letter in the previously addressed envelope and seals it. They pull up to a mailbox and Carrie drops the letter in. They speed away into the night.
