The Living Image (1 rating) by Mark Wells
THE LIVING IMAGE
Harmakhis or Sphinx at Giza carved from rock,
After quarrying from a large outcrop.
One hundred and ninety seven feet in length, half lion half man,
A King to watch over all the time span.
Intended to be a guardian figure in the sand,
Where funeral services would gather and stand.
Such power, such presence from a Pharaoh locked in rock,
Carved perfection in a sand blown frock.
