In the Beginning (5 ratings) by Tony Wicker
Page 1 of 7 Before the dawn of time, there was nothing except an empty void in what is
now our dimension, and a race of beings who were composed of pure intellectual
energy. For millennium uncountable, these beings were content to contemplate
and
theorize within their own vast super-intelligence without ever applying these
concepts to what we would term the physical plane.
Even though these beings existed as pure energy, they would appear to us as
glowing bluish spheres, they were capable of transferring various amounts of
this energy into any of the known planes, or dimensions in order to create the
objects of their theories. However, this was never done. They considered it to
be a weakness to need to prove one’s theory by causing it to exist.
None of these beings ever broke this rule of ethics. That is until one of
them quite inadvertently diverted a very minute portion of his intellectual
energy into the void instead of containing it within himself. The result, a
particle so inconsequential it was a mere grain of sand to him. He didn’t even
realize what he had done until he began to retrace the energy involved in the
theory he had been contemplating and discovered a slight deviation in his
calculations. Somewhere, he had lost enough energy to prevent his theory form
being perfect. As is the way of this race, nothing less than perfection is
acceptable. Thus, their lack of need to prove any of their theories by creating
it’s result. It must be perfect before it could be presented to the council of
minds.
Because of the discrepancy in his calculations, the only option available
was
to start at the beginning and duplicate every step involved in the theory and
account for every particle of energy that was expended. As he proceeded through
the steps, he again diverted a trace of energy into the void. Another grain of
sand resulted. This time, the energy loss was detected and both grains of sand
discovered.
At this point it may be well to mention that these grains of sand would be
the size of a planet to those of us in the human state. However, these grains
of
sand were so insignificant to his being, he did not even consider their
creation. His only concern was the uncontrolled deviation of energy which left
a
flaw in the profound theory he had been contemplating.
This individual was a student. ( The only possible comparison available.)
These beings of pure energy grew and matured in direct proportion to the amount
of knowledge they absorbed. This knowledge came through instruction as well as
their association with others of their social structure and by developing new
theories. There are no sexual distinctions, they reproduce by fission. Also,
there are no genetic codes to carry traits of the parent to the offspring. When
one of these beings is filled to his capacity with knowledge, a small section
of
energy is drained of all information and allowed to separate from the parent.
Not only is a "child" born, but in healing the voided section, the parent
expands his own ability to absorb more knowledge. After reproducing once, it is
the general practice of the race to concentrate on teaching, or perfecting
theories that require little growth. One offspring is the standard practice.
Only those of great importance who need the extra growth space are allowed more
than one offspring. On very rare occasions, an important and powerful
individual
will produce two or three "children" at once in order to increase his own
ability to absorb more knowledge. Next Page Copyright © 1999, 2000, 2001 Tony Wicker, sffworld.com. All rights reserved.
