A Gophers Tail
         by Rick Wolfe

A rodents life you see,
Tis the only life for me,
Having way too much fun,
'Neath the bright, bright sun,
Laugh and play, till the day is done.

For those who see in the dark,
The shadows, through which they blithely lark,
Are no more than pale shades,
In which we plan brilliant escapades.

A moment of fun,
And then we run,
To do it again, until the day is done.

Gots my armour, gots my gun,
With that, what else do I need ol' son?
Won't back from a fight, won't run from a brawl,
But give me enough whiskey, and I'll surely crawl.

I'd say more, but you know how it goes,
When your havin' fun, you got's to stay on your toes
We gophers are a wily bunch,
Always out to lunch.

So now I'm gone,
A plan to which I'm drawn,
Another amusing caper,
Of which you can read about,
Of that I have no doubt,
In tomorrows paper.
