Just a quickie to say thanks for the birthday wishes tomorrow/today Monday, and to update info: three more stories to be added to the time travel anthology slated for fall, 2008 (why is everything in the fall for me?) by CrystalSpirit publishing. Woohoo!

Monday, December 17, 2007 Coming up in the new year...Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know I haven't been here to update for a while, but then none of you have commented either. That would be a bit more incentive for me to visit this odd galaxy of stars.
In any case, here are some projects I am working on for 2008:
Possible voiceover work for BewilderingStories.com podcasts; the continuation of the "LifeStyles of the Urban Elf" humorous fantasy shorts series; of course the ever present, ever pressing crime thriller manuscript; and more non-fiction articles for various sites and publications!
Hopefully at least one of them will coalesce during the new year!
Until then, I await your posts and comments...
Have a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
Onward and upward--

Thursday, November 29, 2007 A blip on the screenNo, I am not going to ask any ridiculous, unanswerable philosophical questions in an attempt to be clever. I hate that. So I will not subject you to it either.
My question is, do you even read other authors' stories or are you absorbed in your own? I try not to be and while about 40% of others' stuff is mediocre at best, sometimes I am truly surprised. Many times even entertained and amused!
Of course, that's when I make a concerted effort to pull myself away from myself and my own work in order to check out somebody else's stuff. I know, I know it's difficult and even painful to admit maybe somebody else did a better job than you! But hopefully it willteach you humility instead of hubris. I sincerely hope it will teach me that. I definitely have a problem with pride. A big problem if you must know.Sometimes it's bigger even than me. Which is saying a lot.
So anyway, back to the original question-do you read other writers' stories or do you just pass on them on the way to your own?
I don't know how to set up a poll, but I'm really interested in knowing. (Also, do you cheat the issue by reading only flash that is readily available and consider that reading other authors' work?)
Yeah, yeah, you probably won't answer (you're too busy thinking about yourself, I know all about that) mainly because I didn't ask any stupid so open-ended questions that go around and around and around in pointless discussions that not only lead to flaming but again back to the hubris issue.
Hey, what's that on your screen?
Signing off,
P.I. Barrington

If you find problems with the link just go to the main site/homepage at www.bewilderingstories.com and click on reader's guide.
Hopefully, I will have more time to devote to this site so it won't all be promotion!! I have to stop, someone else wants this computer! Sorry babies!
