Kareoke, red and blue frogs, and still no writing done!

Mmm. January 16th, 2005. Sixteen days into the new year. So far my writing total stands at approximately 0 words. The only good thing about this is that even though my workrate has not increased, at least it hasn't decreased. I mean, I hadn't done anything to begin with, so at least I'm at a nice, constant level. Yeah, that sounds good. Constant. That sounds really good. Must do something about that big, fat 0 however...

Anyway...major shoulder pains from being hunched over my pc all week gaming online, er, I mean writing my essay. Yeah. Actually, I have written my essay this week - all 6000 words. 2000 words a day for 3 days. Hey, does that count as writing?

Went to a retirement party for one of my better half's work colleague. I had visions of a dingy 'function room', cans of 2% lager and a steady stream of plump, middle-aged women lining up to sing "I will survive" on the kareoke machine. Anyway, it was not bad actually so that was ok.

Going to town tomorrow to buy a webcam so my blue frog Sherman can wave to my brother's red frog, Frogleg, across cyberspace.

I must be going insane.

Must...start...writing...soon...

New Year's resolution #1 is already a non-starter.

I am going to write every day.

So much for that one. Why do there have to be so many distractions?! Online gaming is the real enemy:

Ok, I'm going to write now.

No you're not. Play another game of Dawn of War!

No.

Go on!

No.

You know you want to!

No.

Go on, just one game!

Oh, ok. Just one.

If it's not Dawn of War, then it's something else. Mindless, brain-free internet surfing. Eating cake. Actually doing some work for my Masters degree. Deciding that now would be an excellent time to clean my bathroom (you know you're getting desperate when this excuse crops up).

Reading The Da Vinci Code at the moment and have to say I'm enjoying it.

Now, where was that cake...
