On Writing by Stephen King

As an aspiring fiction writer and one of King's "constant readers" this was a must buy. As soon as I started to read it I was sucked in, one of those pick it up and finish it in a few days-type books. The book is split into a semi-autobiography and a guide for writers. The parts that detail his early beginnings and childhood influences are often amusing. When he describes the amount of work he has put in to some books it reminds you of how good a writer he is. The fact he had writers block during the stand is no surprise, it's a hard book to read as well. Having finished the book it has given me fresh impetus to carry on with mine. I thoroughly recommend it and hope to read many more works by this master.
