First of all I must say that unlike some, I do not believe the Discworld series has gone downhill over time. If anything I think its got better as now anyone who has read the previous installments can empathise with the characters a lot more. The Fifth Elephant is no exception. We are back once again with the members of the city watch and this time they are heading to Uberwald (think Bavaria, but with more monsters). Sgt Angua, the watch's residential warewolf, heads home as trouble is looming in Uberwald. A power struggle between men, dwarfs, vampires and warewolves and its up to the Ankh-Morpork city watch, consisting of a feminine dwarf, an ageing commander and one troll with his siege bow, to avert disaster!
Overall this is a thoroughly enjoyable romp through Discworlds more hostile territories.
