Being a singer myself, I could relate to Soul Music on a deep level.  In fact, I even played a gig at the Drum in downtown Ankh-Morpork last week, but the crowd just wasn't the same, not after the latest disc-shaking rage "Music With Rocks In".
Soul Music is a seriously hilarious story about commercialism and music, and how the two go together like oil and water.
When Death decides to take a break from it all, his granddaughter finds herself having to not only heave the scythe in his place, but also make sense of her new-found family and the memories accompanying them.  Ontop of this, she has to deal with the crazed leather-clad, guitar - bearing  fans of Ankh-Morpork and falls in love with the elf-ish lead singer of the Band With Rocks In.
Soul Music full of mystery, magic and mesmorising music.  I loved it.
