I find the Homecoming series to be a blend of old and new. It is 40 million years into the future and humans are living on a planet called Harmony with a computer in space as its caretaker. Despite some obvious technological advances, the wheel had not been invented on this planet. This is somewhat incongruous since the invention of the wheel is paramount to the advancement of technology. However, it is these small incongruities that make this story so absorbing.
I find that O S Card is very adept at characterizations and quite sucks you in with his clever plot. This series makes for very interesting reading. He has quite an imagination which I hope he'll keep exploring, so that we, the readers, can continue to enjoy his work.
