Okay I just checked out this book and couldn't put it down.
The only way I can explain it is very accurate and even tough Anne wrote a very good book I think that she went overboard with the SUPER FRIENDLY DOLPHINS ,hell I have seen what they are really like in their own eviroment and the are a pretty aggresive species.
But it is in the future and they can talk (I have no doubts that they can talk with each other)
How much better does it get?

I have just read "The Dolphins of Pern" for the 6th time. I have been a fan of Anne McCaffreys for many years. She along with JRR Tolkien are my favorite authors. Ms. McCaffreys' writing style brings the readers into the story and her books are unforgettable. I am eagerly awaiting her new book "Skies of Pern".

Journey back to the tiny planet of Pern after the dreaded menace
called "Thread" has now been erradicated thanks to the efforts of the hundreds
of dragons, from every Weyr on the planet. Now the fighters turn
their attention to securring their future on the warm and newly re-discovered
southern continent. Also re-discovered by a young man is the intelligent
dolphins that have survived on the planet seperate from human contact for
thousands of years. They are drawn to this boy and his eagerness
to start a new Dolphin Guild is met with more than a little resistance.
This book grabs the reader right from the word "go" and keeps you spellbound
for the whole ride. For people who fell in love with the Pern series,
this book is a must!
