Just completed the Pern series .Began 24years ago and recently picked it up again. Stunning and beautiful it made me cry to think i had finished the series.I feel as if the dragons are family as are all the characters of Pern.Excellent the way the history of the colonists and the very first Dragonriders is revealed through AIVIS and a relationship develops between it and the people, also the fear of progress is expressed in the acts of terrorism. If it wasn't for Thread you could almost wish for things to stay as they were ,who needs progress? Fabulous book.
