Zedd is one of my favorite characters in the series because he is a realist. I liked Debt of Bones because it gave us a tiny glimpse of the past Zedd so desperately tries to forget. While the first couple of books give us a large insight into Zedd's thought processes within the Sword of Truth series, this book gives us a peek at how those thought processes were developed. Zedd has had a long and waried life that only a separate series could properly explore. This book is a nice diversion while waiting for the continuation of Richard and Kahlan's story.

I've liked all of Goodkind's books and am currently reading Chainfire. I thought Debt of Bones was a catchy little story. It's got the intensity of a regular novel, but its just a short story. Good things come in small packages. Because I read all the books, then Debt of Bones, it felt like it was a kind of reviewing. It felt kind of like common sense but being that its supposed to be a prequel. I'll give it some slack. Otherwise I liked it and I would recommend it.
