Another great book in the Starscape series, The Starsscape Project again follows Danny Stryker, though in entirely different circumstances. I was very interested to know what Aiken would do with for his second book in the series, and in my opinion, what he has done is improve. The story takes place 3 years after the peace with the Teconeans, at the turn of the 26th century (the year 2500). Stryker has been framed for the theft of a top-secret Federation weapon and is on the lam while he tries to clear his name. All the while, a third party, alien lifeform is launching clandestine attacks against the Teconeans, who think the Earth Federation is responsible. The peace is quickly falling apart. Stryker has to either let the aliens destroy the Teconeans, or help his former enemies save themselves and Earth. Whew!
The book reads like a Hollywood blockbuster (the good kind, not the Starship Troopers kind), and maintains its fast pace until the very last page. Another incredibly very engaging book by this up-and-coming author, The Starscape Project will not disappoint!
I just hope Brad finds a way to write a third....
