Songmaster is one of the most powerful books I've ever read (the others being Ender's Game, Worthing Saga and Hart's Hope, but I may be just biased) and it was worth every minute of my time. It is extremely well-written like the rest of Card's books and I have always admired Card's ability to write about the death of his main character and yet keep the book intact, which few authors can boast of.
