I was delighted to discover this excellent book by Trudi Canavan. With its simple storyline shrouded in stunning prose,The Magicians' Guild offers readers something different and compelling. The pacing is very different from typical fantasy fair. The tale progresses with a slow ease, that allows Canavan to dwell on the interesting features of a richly detailed setting. At first I found myself wanting more action; quicker plot development. However, once I surrendered to Canavan's style, I was able to enjoy the quirky personalities who drive her story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who appreciates believable and detailed fantasy settings. A story of political intrigue and magic, The Magicians' Guild kept me nailed to my seat until the last page.
