There are only a handful of world governments, with the United States being the one true world power. The President rules with an iron fist, crushing those who oppose him with harsh brutality. There seems little hope for the average person. But one day there comes a change. Whether through divine intervention or merely an accident of nature, the world is rocked by a strange incident, and societies fall. President Harold Anderson of the United States scrambles to keep his regime in power. This book, published in 2000, has some amazing details that have seemingly come to pass over the last eight years, including those that deal with new technologies, bunker war battles, and nuclear powers. I think this is a must read for anyone trying to navigate through these troubled times today. We see survivors that unite in a common cause to fight against evil, and I thought the ending was tremendouly uplifting despite how the book started out.
