"To Reign in Hell" is Greg Cox's third book in his "Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh" series. This chapter details the events that took place after James Kirk and crew left Khan and his followers on Ceti Alpha Five following Khan's botched attempt to overthrow Kirk and commandeer the enterprise until Chekov stumbles upon them at the beginning of the Wrath of Khan. I thoroughly enjoyed Greg Cox's first two novels in this trilogy and was thrilled to see it continued. The novel is fast paced and engrossing. I feel that the novel stands on its own as Sci-Fi/Adventure, but if you like me are a fan of the Trek universe especially the original series, this is absolutely must read. Cox presents Khan as a man against impossible odds, humanizing what is arguably the best villain in the Star Trek pantheon, while never losing sight of the fact that he is unbearably arrogant. I highly recommend all of the books in this series, this third installment being my favorite. I hope Greg Cox can devise a way to bring Khan back to life for a fourth book (this is SCi-Fi after all). I for one will be hoping and waiting. Five Stars!
