This short novel, originally written for teenagers, tells the chilling story of a boy who finds himself completely alone in the world (or so it seems) after a terrible plague wipes out the entire population. It is set in Britain at some unspecified time in the future, and although written some time during the 70's it remains gripping and relevant to this day. The strong feelings and emotions felt by the boy, and the descriptions - in detail - of the spread of the plague and the impact on society are written with such clarity and conviction that you are swept along.
