I enjoyed this book immensely, it works on many levels and is an interesting twist to the dystopia n 'earth bound' SF novel. The central character is a facially disfigured fraudster and charlatan that cons people into believing he's a great healer. Because in this future earth there's not collective idea of what truth is and everyone is locked into mini societies connected by networks, he's able to get away with it 'cause no-one knows what to believe any more. The action sequences are gripping, because the author is great at building tension and atmosphere. There are interesting issues about enhancement and cosmetic improvement - the main character is ugly while all about him are beautiful. The issue of what is truth is played out very successfully and romance angle, as the character searches for his missing partner and has to confront his inner demons is brilliant. A highly engaging, intelligent novel with some surprising twists that holds the reader in its grip till the end. Highly recommended.
