This book is very good. Since the author is extremely good at weaving together threads from the two earlier trilogies, I recommend that anyone who have not read them, do so before they read the "Golden Fool" trilogy. Not because you HAVE TO - you will understand the plot anyway - but you get small hints and "goodies" that will add on to the pleasure.
These books have great characters and a well described world (Hobb can make you "see" the world and the characters).
The only flaw that I saw was that no matter how slow I read, eventually the book was finished and I have to wait for the next one :).

I absolutley adore the tradgic collection of tales that are FitzChivarly's life! and this sequel did not disapoint me! It begun quite like "Assassins Apprentice" with Fitz telling us mostly anything he finds significant in his life up untill that point, personally I like that slow-moving beginings and I also love the way Fitz tells everything as if he's telling a faerytale (but most of the time it's more like a horror story) to his grandchildren round a fire! I love Fitz's character and I also love all the old characters and some of the new ones- although the new ones aren't as well developed as the old ones- and I am so annoyed that another book has gone by and Fitz still hasn't connected Nettle; I was even more so when I read Tawny Man 2 Golden Fool and he still hadn't met her!!! I wish he'd tell Patience he was still alive and I really wish that in his heart he'd forgive his mother and I have wished that since book one of the Farseer! I was so upset at the end of Assassins and I cried and I was soooooo happy when I found out there was a sequel that I almost cried then too cause I thought yeh! at last there might be a happy ending for my beloved Fitz but alas! After reading the books that I thought might bring Fitz some joy I'm still crying!!

I Cant wait for Tawny book three which is supposed to be released like in Oct. So I just hope Fitz will at last get the happy Ending I've dreamed for him!

Fool's Errand is a must read. The first books in this series (The Farseer Trilogy) is a beautiful and epic tale including everything from romance to horror with some of the most beautiful endings I have ever read. Her books capture you and take you right inside, making you feel like your right there next to Fitz witnessing it all. Her sequal is no less an intricate plot than the first. Fifteen years after the Red ship war Fitz is found in his little cottage with his long time wolf companion, Nighteyes. But the winds of change are blowing and unbeknowst to Fitz his old life is soon to catch up with him. A brilliant tale ans I eagerly anticipate it's sequal Golden Fool.

For those of you who have read her other works, obviously this is a must, for those that haven't: catch up and then read this!
Fitz is back and he's older. Nighteyes is back and he's as cool as ever. The fool is back and he's got plenty of secrets, which I'm sure many of you are onto.
This is a great start to a series and Hobbs has given us enough info from her first two series' for us to start making a few educated guesses about where she'll take this one, although with Hobbs predictability is not an issue.
It's beautifully written in the first person (Fitz's viewpoint), and has what I feel to be amazing accuracy cosidering Hobbs is female.
The pace is slow but it builds and builds towards the end, with a very satisfying conclusion, and enough intrigue to set set up the next book nicely. With this and the tendrils from the traders series to tie up, you know this is just gonna get better and better.

I love all her writing and once again she has managed to completely rope me in when I least expected it. I have been reading fantasy/science fiction all my life and she has created a true tragic hero in Fitzchivalry. Not many books can make me shed a tear but Robin Hobb manages to always break my heart. I am now dying to continue the story...
