I had already read the first one, so I had big expectations. She still blew me away. I am reading it again, and I still can't get over my love for Aubrey, and Jessica, she kicks butt!! I had to admit that when I found out how old she was when she published her first book I nearly cried. I have been writing for as long as I can remember, and I have 3 or 4 vampire stories going, along with so many other things it isn't funny I am 17, and I still haven't gotten anything published except in my school magazine. Big whoop. Well, back to her review. She drove me to write more, and I can't wait to steal her third book from my friend, "Shattered Mirror". Rhodes wrote so vividly I could imagine, perfectly, what Jessica and Aubrey looked like. The length and reading level may have been low, but when you start reading you want to finish so badly. I loved this book the most out of its little series. I've always been interested in vampires, but Dracula and such I didn't get into. The powers and weaknesses of vampires actually make sense here! It's too cool! You have to read it!!! Submitted by artist_411@msn.com (Nov 23, 2001)This book was amazing. One of the most influential authors I have ever seen. Anyone who thinks that her books are terrible, probably can't see talent. This teen has given me, and hopefully others, a sense that we can do whatever we want to, including getting your own world, characters and plot published and read by thousands. I actually would give this book a 10 out of five. She is one of the best. Submitted by Keiko (Nov 23, 2001)Love it, love it, love it. I picked it out of a book order, thinking,"Okay, it might be interesting." I got it and started reading. I couldn't put it down. What amazed me was that she was only 14 when she published her first book. I've been writing my own story, and this book gave me a MAJOR jump-start. It looks so realistic and you can't help but fall in love with the characters I would highly recommend this book for all fantasy lovers. Although I thought the ending was a bit weak comparing to the rest of the book, the rest of the book kept my attention captivated. An excellent pick.
