I have to admit I was dissapointed at first with Path of Daggers and was starting to feel like nothing was getting acomplished, more questions kept popping up and more went unanswered. Winters Heart in my head was going to be the answer to many of my questions. It was an answer but not the one I was looking for. Same for others I bet. However, Robert Jordans maticulous character creation and intriguing plot twists are what brought us this deep into the series to begin with. In Eye of the World we met our heroes and followed them on what many authors would consider a complete journey. As the WOT turns we find that we are just threads in a great pattern, lost like a grain of sand in a desert seeming to have no control over the other grains. Winters Heart has shown me the true merit of Robert Jordan. Our heroes are not invincible, they do not become heroes in a day, chapter, or book even. This book was another stop along the long road of our heroes lives. A heroes life is not all action, adventure, death and carnage. The subtle everyday happenings which Jordan has so gracefuly intertwined into these books that some people call "slow" paced are a refreshing sight. Although some people hate certain characters in the books, it seems that all are integral in the main plot of stopping the Dark One. The sub plots in the books so far have spead us out away from the main plot keeping the heroes minds preoccupied and away from their real concern. Sooner or later they will all be reunited with their causes all becoming one. I for one am not going to miss what happens next. Each book in the series has sunk the hook in deeper than the last and I am excited at the prospect that even the smallest detail can make a difference in the outcome of the series and boggle at the thought that there are so many details I am forgetting that will be pointed out to me later.

In short. Great addition to the series. A must read for anyone who has read the other 8. Takes your frustration at how much is left unsaid from Path of Daggers and turns it into wonder of what will come next.

Read Winter's Heart in 45 minutes. How? Just go to the last 70 pages and start there. The rest of the book comprises travelogues and fashion descriptions and hissy fits by various characters. Been there, done that, been there, done that, been there .... Winter's Heart improves on Jordan's last nearly dead-still sortie, but it's still turgid. Because I've gone this far into the WOT series that started off with such a flourish, I'll probably stick with it to the bitter end. But this time, by the Light, I think I'll wait for the paperback.

To start off I will say that I really loved this book. There are people saying that the world is too big or too many plots or even it's too slow. All I can say is can you do any better? The world moves well and you can have a sense of reality (sometimes).

What can I say? If you haven't read it yet then you still are not complete. While it still isn't up there with Tolkein(what is?), it is a most unprecidented book. The ending was amazing. I have heard people say that it is too big, long, whatever. They obviously haven't a clue. Sorry but it is a unequaled book. The series is one of the most complete in the fantasy genre. Jordan has the ability to wrap yourself around the world of his books. Description matched only by Hugo, plot and fantasy merit only by Tolkien, and unsurpassed in breathless urgency. Needless to say, Eye of the World is one of the greatest fantasy epics ever. All the while Winters Heart is another excellent addition to the series. And the ending was nearly as surprising and triumphant as any i have read. Leaving me aching for the next book.

Wow, what an incredible ending! I am so hyped about what Winters Heart means for the future of this series. With the false Dragon and his cast of creepies on the march, Taim looking shady and dangerous, Faile captured, the Forsaken shaken, Fain on the down low, Darkfriends on the inside, The Seanchen on the verge of freaking out, and Rand showing Men and Women working together with the One Power...wooooweeee!!!! Even with the boring cattiness of some of the women's situations(are they always on the r--), this Book Of The Wheel takes a huge step in re-establishing this series as a must-read!!! I can easily see the Wheel spinning 3 or 4 more books with all the unresolved situations and potential for new ones!!!!!
