It does kinda seem that the book is being dragged out a little.  I think part of the problem is that RJ has made a world that is huge... its hard for him to touch upon every part of it in any amount of detail.  It is nice that he got to that one thing that did happen (if you have read it you know what i'm talking about) and I think that things are slowly coming together.  I enjoyed the book because i think that you should value the journey over the destination, and it was an enjoyable book, with some good scenes throughout the book and a couple of things happened that I didn't really thing would.  So yes, I think that it does bear a resembelance to POD in that there were not many things going on, but he seems to be reaching his conclusion.... slowly but surely.  Now I just feel sorry for all of us that are going to have to wait for the NEXT book to come out...

I must admit, I suffered through the last two or three books in this series.  Just about every character in the book irritated me and the plot seemed to balloon to an impossible size.

Winter's heart is a great book.  Many threads are tied together, character's develop both in social standing and in personality, and my favorite character finally comes back.  Enjoyable reading; seems like more happens here than in the last 2 books.

I have just finished reading Winter's Heart, and I must say that I am more than satisfied.  OK, so that's an understatement:  the book just plain rocks.

I went into this book feeling somewhat reluctant.  Like many other readers, I felt that The Path of Daggers was a bit of a let-down, consisting mainly of filler, and I was afraid that WH would be the same.  I was sadly mistaken.

There are really only two major plots in this book:  Mat in Ebou Dar and Rand...  doing something.  (I won't spoil it for anyone.)  True, there were other things happening with Perrin and Elayne (I WAS disappointed that we don't get to see the siege of Tar Valon...), but it was mostly these two men that carried the book.  Mat's story progessed well enough, probably because it was so NICE to see him again.  But it was Rand's story that truly held me to my seat.  (Again, I won't spoil anything...)

What I will say is that this was a tremendous read, and I can't believe that I read it so fast.  A LOT of questions were answered.  Some Forsaken were exposed (Yeah), some major issues addressed (the Trio), and quite a few "minor mysteries" (Who is Juilin's honey???) were were solved.  All this from an suthor who has been proclaiming "Read and Find Out" for years when asked about plot.

Mr. Jordan, I will continue to "Read and Find Out," as long as you continue on this (hopefully) marvelously fulfilling course.

The time two years ago, the event POD release.  The conclusion to the Path of Daggers nov 7,2000.   Winter's Heart is a good book.  It continues the tradtion of WOT and showcases why Robert Jordan is one of the best.  But if you read the dustjacket for POD, it will tell you most of the plot of Winter's Heart.  That's right!  We finally know where the rest of the POD manuscript disappeared too.   We use to get 1000 pages per book now we are getting 650 or so.  Granted a 1200 or 1300pg book would have been too long so instead the publishers and RJ decided to cut the book in half and sell it as two books.  Winter's Heart after the first 300 or so pages actually starts a new chapter of the WOT which is great.  The first 300pgs should have been included in the POD and if it would have then made the POD not a good book but a great book.  Winter's heart is the same as POD I get the feeling that WH could have been more.  I am happy that POD is finally finished.  I am also happy that WH has begun.  The next book should conclude all of the plot lines to date and propel the series to its dramtic conclusion.   If you have felt that POd lacked something then read Winter's heart and POD will no longer feel incomplete.  I hope this is not a cycle the next book always completing the previous one.   Will see.  Read the book it is wroth the money.  No doubts about it

Like many, I was frantic to get my hands on book 9. I have read it twice(yes, I read fast) and am somewhat dissappointed. I have referred to book 8 as a filler, guess what-book 9 is too. I will not get into too much detail because many have not finished the book yet, but only one major occurance was in Winters Heart. It was nice to read the next book but I am getting the feeling the series is being drug out.
