Page 1 of 3 In the Forest of the Night by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
Submitted by Faith (Nov 30, 2003)This is not the best book I've ever read, but hey - Amelia Atwater-Rhodes wrote it when she was only 13, so you gotta give her a credit for it.
The book was deep and the vampires aren't just your average stake-through-the-heart, aversion-to-sunlight vampires. The author creates her own creatures, turning them into a much better version than the ones that had been earlier created. So through writing this book, she also made a couple of more friends Submitted by Sydney (Oct 19, 2003)This book was extremely well-written. Full of deep insight and vivid details, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes introduced me to a new breed of vampires. Ones that had more behind them than just sucking blood and avoiding stakes in the heart. These vampires had a past, a cause, and, most surprisingly of all, a heart. Though it doesn't say so, you can still sense it, imbedded in the type. Risika's feelings towards her family, life, and Tora. Then there's Aubrey, the ultimate villain. You find yourself easily engrossed in their games, drawing each other towards the other for one final climatic battle. Oh yes, and Miss Amelia plays a wonderful "trick" on her readers: She introduces her character for the second book. I realized this shortly after I read the second. That was definitely clever work on Amelia's part. This book deserves all the attention it receives. Though it can get boring at times, I consider "In the Forests of the Night" a must-read for anyone who has an imagination. I totally love this book. While reading this I felt like I could connect with Risika. Like I was her. And when I made a picture of what Aubrey would look like, well, I'm guessing total hottie! Submitted by Fairy Girl (Apr 04, 2003)This book was so great, I couldn't put it down at all. Day and night all I did was read this book! I've gone through it sevral times and can really feel all the thoughts running through Rasikas head. I loved it and can't wait until the book comes out with a sequel! (if at all) This book stretched my imagination and for two weeks all that I could think about was vampires! Submitted by Jenna (Feb 11, 2003)In the Forests of the Night is a really moving book, but I really like how it tied in with Demon in my View. Every book Amelia writes leads you into the next one. I wrote stories before I read her book and didn't think that they would ever get published because of my age but when I found out that she wrote her first book at age 13 it gave me hope and I'm curently looking for a publisher.
