I just recently read Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It is one of the best survival books out there because it doesn't take place in the usual survival setting which is commonly and island but out in the Canadian Wilderness. It gets the reader to explore a new situation along with Brian as he fights the war of survival. I'm anxious to read the rest of the series!

These are my absolute favorite books(The whole hatchet series). They are very descriptive and kept you guessing on whats going to happen next. With plenty of irony to keep your mind abrewing it tangles you in so you can't put it down. Its about a boy that crashes in the wilderness and all he has is a hatchet to survive. The hatchet helps him in every thing fom shelter to fire. Simply Marvelous; I am anxiously awaiting to read the 5th book recently released.

I love the Hatchet series, I have read the whole series over and over agin. By far the best books I have read. He keeps you interested and they all have a quick start, which I like because I cannot stand when any book starts out so slow.

I snored through all the books starting the next one in hopes for a more exciting tale. my searching was in vain however and I was amazed at how boring a book like this can be. this was truly a book not worth reading

The Hatchet, Brian's Winter, and The River are some of the best books i have ever read. They really make you think,"what if i ever get in this situation, and everyone thinks that i am dead. They teach you survival, and how to live with only what you have. I like Gary paulsens Writing style, he is very creative. One  person I know in my class that likes all his books, and every time we do a book report at school, he always does a Paulsen.
