Submitted by Patrick Barney (May 02, 2000)Wizard's First Rule was pretty cool. In fact, after I read it back in '97, it was my favorite book ever, and it still is. Stone of Tears was great, a more than adequate follow up to a brilliant novel. Blood of the Fold was really cool, although not as cool as the first two, but certainly not a dissapointment. Temple of the Winds was almost as good as Wizard's First Rule, and just a little better than Stone of Tears. Then came Soul of the Fire. An excellently written book, but, unfortunately, I was bored with the book until about the last two hundred pages. It was a good book, though, and I am looking forward to reading Faith of the Fallen, but I hope it is a major improvement over Soul of the Fire. Submitted by Chris Stone (May 02, 2000)Terry Goodkind's first book 'Wizards First Rule' was hard to top but he managed it in all of his books. Every book of his seems to get better as his skills increase. Am extremely talented author is the only way to describe Terry Goodkind. Thrilling, realistic novels is the only way to describe his five astounding novels that are released so far. Terry Goodkind has amazing potential for his future novels. First off, I loved Wizard's First Rule. I thought it was an excellent book. It tended to be a bit graphic in areas, but so do most fantasy books. The Stone of Tears was another well-written book. I thought the plot line was great, and the characters were memorable. Graphic? The chapter where the one sister gets killed was probably the most disgusting thing I've ever read in my life. The third book. By this time I have completely forgotten what it is called. I remember it was about dark sisters and Richard destroyed that one place. It wasn't a very good book. I don't remember most anything about it. Not the plot, not the characters, nothing. From then on, whenever I saw a new Sword of Truth novel all I could think was, just stop writing them already. I've had quite enough. Submitted by David Reed (Apr 25, 2000)In the first bood The Wizard's First Rule I was so interested in the series. It was the whole reason I got interested in fantasy books. The story of Richard being a war wizard and being in love with a confessor was the best story I had ever read.
The second one was good because Richard was learning something more about his powers. It turned into a love story which I think the series could do without.
The third book was alright because it brought in the dream walker. The rest with the Blood of the Fold was In my opion stupid.
The forth book was cool because after Richard got into the Temple Of The Winds he knew everything and that was very cool.
The fifth book was just plain boring compared to the others. Richard didn't learn very much.
Then the sixth book is to come out this summer. I think Terry goodkind should move off the love story and go to letting Richard learn to use all of his abilities. Submitted by Aaron B. (Apr 21, 2000)After having read garbage like dragonlance and dungeons and dragons I feel as though I can truly gauge A Fantasy Series as good or bad. I've grown up playing role playing games of the fantasy type all my life and understand the need for continuity and development. The art of making ones point and writing a good novel is at best a daunting task. Terry I give you my highest regard. You have shown us what it is to live in the world of Richard and Kahlan. I truly love this series. Like Terry I love to daydream. I would give my left foot to do his job.(but I don't envy him the task).
