I'm 12 years old and I think that these books are amazing. My sisters' friend got me into them when she didn't want to read it. My favorite is Kahlan. She's really smart, a good fighter and a good leader. Totally girl-power! Right now I just finished "Blood of the Fold" and are on the next in the series. In some parts it made me almost cry, but in the next I was cringing it was so gruesome. But all in all I was happy, because nothing really good or bad happened to them.

I highly recommend this book to not only adults but to teens looking for a good fantasy book.

Wizards First Rule sent me spiraling into a dangerous new fantasy world, with previously unthought-of critters and societies. There can be no mistake of Goodkind's grasp of the English language or his thoroughness in plot and character creation; however this doesn't really become apparent until one has read Blood of the Fold.

The series is to a fantasy reader what a fine wine is to a connoisseur, however as with wines there are a number of resemblances to other works, not in the least Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time. This, though, is not, as many would have it be, a bad thing, but gives the reader a sense of being at home in an environment of fantasy which is well trod.

Goodkind has a way of showing us how people act out of love, need and desperation in a world where everyday problems are portrayed on a biblical scale and really show us how trivial our problems are compared to those who have to carry the weight of responsibility and truth on their shoulders.

I have been a long time reader of fantasy novels, and no other series created an impact on me like The Sword of Truth.

It takes in more than just the fantasy genre, as it combines in romance, comedy, and many other types. No other series I've read did that so masterfully. Also the characters can relate back to the readers with some of problems they face, while their's are more extreme, we face similar style troubles every day.

I've always been a big fan of the fantasy genre. I started out with Weis/Hickman's Dragonlance series and have never looked back. R.A. Salvatore has always been my very favourite author - until now! I just finished the Wizards First Rule and I couldn't believe how mesmerized it left me! Before the Wizard's first rule, I had read Salvatore's Mortalis, from the Demonwars series and I thought it was great and gave a welcomed different look at fantasy, but Goodkind has taken fantasy to a whole different level. It's a whole new realm of fantasy for me. Terry Goodkind's diversity as a writer is unbelievable. I've never been left so spellbound by a book in my entire life, and I've read tons and tons of books. He is the master of character development, and can make you feel as if you are a part of the story. It's the best character development since The Grapes of Wrath! I actually had dreams about it, and it was rather unnerving! He also writes the best evil I have read. Darken Rahl makes Sauron look like a pussycat. I've just started the second book, and I have the third on it's way in the mail. Much props to Terry Goodkind.

I was never a big fan of fantasy novels. My wife bought me 'Wizard's First Rule' to read on a train ride from Oregon to California. As soon as I was done with the first page, I was excited at how Terry Goodkind's gift for description drew me into the story. I could visualize the scenery, the characters; at times it was as if I could smell the food. Another aspect that intrigued me was the level of emotion portrayed by the characters. A good example was Kahlan's torment after meeting Shota. Mr. Goodkind describes her helplessness so vaguely; it can bring a reader to tears. I know I came close to the Kleenex. Needless to say, I finished that novel and continued with the other books. I am currently on 'The Pillars of Creation'. It is a little different than the other books in the 'Sword of Truth' series, but equally fantastic. I am looking forward to 'Naked Empire' as I was lucky enough to score a signed copy.
Anyhow, the books in this series are a must not only for fantasy readers, but for anyone who likes to read a good story with characters that can be related to.

PS. The justice inflicted by Kahlan to a very evil person whose type is sadly a reality to our society is something that I think most people would love inflict themselves. Read and find out!
