Welcome to the world of Anita Blake, chock-full of slayers, vampires, lycanthropes, zombies, ghosts, and one skanky lamia. The St. Louis–based necromancer, vampire executioner, and mistress to both the master vampire of the city and the alpha werewolf never fails to dig up enough trouble to please. Hamilton’s series is compelling, fun, and sexy; one page-turner after anther. Each novel grows in complexity as the heroine precariously balances her tenacity, morality, and sanity through a gauntlet of action-packed and near-fatal calamities. Sadly, the steamy erotica that seems to all but overwhelm Hamilton’s latest offerings may turn off some readers, as the brash bad-ass Anita the readers of the series know and love becomes somehow, predictable. Ménage à quoi (yes, quoi) and S&M notwithstanding, the Anita Blake novels are a must-read for any vampire aficionado.

Anita Blake is the most kick-butt female character I have ever read about! She's so realistic, the way she thinks and feels her surroudings and situations. A friend of mine introduced me to Anita and now im hooked. It's like catching AIDS- better yet its like the adure. The lust is spreading, every one is catching Anita fever and spreading it! Who couldnt get addicted to a tough as nails lady like Anita. The books have everything: sexy vamps, tasty were-people, suspense, blood, guts, lustful encounters, and death. Who wouldnt want to fall in love with this deadly lady? (I really think there should be a comic book series of her)

I think Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series are the best. It was pure luck that I happened to read even one of her books. I was looking for some other books by another author and I stumbled on the series. After reading Bloody Bones, I was hooked. It turns out I started reading in the wrong order but I soon corrected that. Still whether starting out of order or not, I still think the Anita Blake series is the BEST!!

For the past four years I have probably read all of the Anita Blake books two or three times. I find these books to be extremely entertaining and Laurell K. Hamilton's way of describing her characters is very well done. Her way of describing St. Loius, and the world as a whole, makes you wonder whether or not vampires, werewolves, and other monsters actually exist. All in all I find this series very entertaing and recommend it to anyone that likes the supernatural.

I just started reading the Anita Blake series and I must agree with all the other reviews....it's awesome!!! From the first page it grabbed me and didn't let go. I'll admit I've become addicted to the series and have so far spent more money than I should on them, LOL. Anita is a great anti-hero. She's a good guy but doesn't let her conscience get in the way when she feel her life or an innocent's are on the line. I love how all the big baddies start off thinking she's a joke and end up either a bloody pile of mulch or treating her with kid gloves. I must say the character development has so far been good and I definitely recommend this series for any vamipre, werewolf, or just plain butt kicking, gore fest fans. Hamliton is also excellent at setting up sexual tension in the weirdest instances. I also recommend her Meredith Gentry series.
