Submitted by Chriss (Oct 30, 2001)After hearing everyone rave about this series i finally submitted and read the first book. Ok, nothing happened until the last few chapters, which were really good, if a bit transparent, so i went on to the second in good faith, but got really real sick of Rand very quickly and stopped reading. I didn't enjoy them at all. Submitted by Thor Nankivel (Oct 29, 2001)Robert Jordan is one of the best if not the best author of fantasy I have ever read. I loved him back when he was writing books in the Conan series, and he has only been getting better. His character development is better than Tolkien's by far, in my opinion. I have never felt as close to the characters in the Lord of the Rings or the Hobbit as I have to Rand 'al Thor and the rest of Jordan's characters. They each have their own personality such that you can guess what they will do when confronted with a situation. I feel (as lame as it might sound) as if I am close friends with the Edmond,s Feilders. I share in their pain and joy as if I was there personally. It is nice to find a book(s) that you can truly loose your self in. Currently, I am waiting for Winter's Heart to come out here in I believe it is October. I can't wait to see where Jordan leads me in this next book. Submitted by Gerard Sweeney (Oct 25, 2001)To begin with, I think that Robert Jordan is one of the best fantasy writers ever. His style, character development, plot lines, IMAGINATION......... he's unsurpassed. Three years ago, I first picked up "Eye of the World" and I was addicted. I couldn't leave it down. Since then I have read and reread the series to date, and my love of the world has only got greater.
People have said that he is not tying up any loose ends from book to book, but is that not reality?? Problems and plots don't just solve themselves neatly. He is performing endless development of the characters and plot lines, to make the world seem authentic. He is succeeding. If the characters were underdeveloped, there would be more complaints. In my opinion, the "Wheel of Time" series is a work of art, and long may it continue. I look forward to turning the pages waiting to see the next Aes Sedai or Seanchan plot revealed for some time to come!!!!! Submitted by Daniel Gigiox (Sep 25, 2001)I found the books in this series to be largely entertaining I have read many books in my time and after reading Tad Williams I thought that nothing would top it but here it is. Robert Jordan writes beautifully, he puts his characters together in a way that they all play out doing something. ( no idle characters) I have to give these books a five because of not only style but content Submitted by ghrarkfyrebyrd20@aol.com (Sep 25, 2001)Ok, so the "Wheel of Time" series has some flaws in it. I've only read books one through four but I have enjoyed the series thoroughly. The only major flaw of the Wheel of Time is the sexism. Nyneave's constant mention of "men!" is showing perhaps more sexism than needed. However, this flaw was covered very well by the other women's behavior towards the men. It only seemed like a natural occurrence that there would be at least one sexist, if not more. I did notice that Robert Jordan tends to like mixing different cultures with each other and producing a totally new society that most people only dream about. Its that small town feeling for a large city. Now maybe I think of that but there are very few robberies done by people in the city. In fact, only the nomads are the ones doing the looting. This is a very good book series over all.
