Page 2 of 3 Deverry by Katharine Kerr
Submitted by anne (Jul 08, 2002)I just loved the Deverry series. When I was looking in the library for fantasy-fiction books, I found book one of the Deverry series. I began reading it at once. I found the constant flipping back and forth in time confusing. You where reading a story about Jill and Rhodry and I was completley lost while reading that I was only fixed on that, when you suddenly find yourself a couple of hundreds of years back in time. Sometimes it was irritating, but it also brought new light on certain aspects of the "main" story. (I hope you will forgive me my spelling faults, english is not my first language, it's Dutch) Submitted by Anonymous (Jul 31, 2001)I read the whole series with mixed feelings. Parts of it were very engrossing to read, but I found her constant flipping back and forth in time to be very off-putting. It's not that I couldn't keep up. I just found that MASSIVE chunks of her books would be dedicated to providing a few tidbits of information necessary for the advancement of the plot. It was a 1/2 decent read if you can overlook that. Submitted by larilari1223@hotmail.com (Feb 09, 2001)The first time i read Daggerspell i was lost. I finally finished it later and i fell in love with the series. I went out and bought the rest of the books and read them all. After finishing the series, the first couple of books made more sense. It is hard to understand at the beginning, but once you understand and get used to the switching of times it is a very good series to read. I recommend it to all those fantasy lovers out there! I love how when you start reading it, you can't put it down until you've finished it, and then you just have to get the next book! Anyone who likes reading should read this series it's great. I picked up Daggerspell in a garage sale and I've been avidly hunting down each book in the bookstores. I love the usage of different times in history to enable the reader to learn about the different aspects of each character. Kerr mixes action with intrigue and politics like a master chef. I recommend any reader of fantasy to try this series. I promise you that you'll not be disappointed.
