Submitted by Luke (Mar 18, 1999)Martin's work in A Game of Thrones is truly astounding.
His characters are deep and developed, and he has a talent for describing
action. When I finished A Game of Thrones, it had been out for about
2 years, so I literally went hunting for its sequel, A Clash of Kings.
I scoured every bookshop in town and harrassed poor clerks until they hid
under their counters when they saw me. The point of this is clear:
I loved this book so much that I went crazy looking for the sequel.
I wanted to continue the adventures of the Starks, lords of Winterfell.
His settings and writing style are fantastically original, and there is
seriously never a dull moment. Some people may be put off by some
scenes of explicit sex and violence, but in my mind, this only added to
a heightened maturity level. I give this book the highest recommendations.
Go out right now and buy this book. When you get through, go and
buy its sequel, A Clash of Kings. You won't regret it.
