Having read some of Butchers other novels, when I saw the Codex Aleras first volume on the store shelves I had to have it. True to form it did not disappoint. Jim Butcher has created a dazzeling world in which intrigue and infighting are a way of life for the center of the empire and our hero a young boy from a border holding at the edge of the kingdom, is thrust into a military academy for the rich and powerful who tease him because he is the only person on the planet who cant use magic. A world replete with barbarians and wizards, knights and soldiers. If you like high fantasy, then this serise is a must read.
